TACUSPA President's Message

TACUSPA Members,

I don’t know about all of you but I’m still coming down from the TACUSPA conference high. After two years without a time to gather together it sure was amazing to be together with our TACUSPA family of colleagues. I know you will join me in one last “JOB WELL DONE” for the amazing Dr. Ashley Spicer-Runnels and the 2021 conference co-chairs Grisell Perez-Carey and Stephanie Martinez.

As we conclude 2021 and look forward to the year ahead I am so excited for the direction and future of TACUSPA. We’ve weathered a tremendous storm together but TACUSPA is strong as an organization and we can’t wait to show you just how resilient we are in the months ahead. Those of you who attended the conference will know that I issued a challenge to the TACUSPA membership. A challenge to Re-connect to one another and your colleagues and staff, Re-engage in critical conversations, Re-discover a new normal that confronts problems that have existed in our field for decades, and to Re-ignite your passion for Student Affairs.

TACUSPA is here to support you in this journey.

Our amazing webinar committee will continue to put on fantastic webinars meant to challenge you and spark conversations.

We will offer again this year the TACUSPA at Work program launched by Ashley last year to provide an ongoing way for you to engage with one another around a shared topic of interest.

New this year we will be launching a series for AVPs and Deans of Students; an effort led by former TACUSPA President Molly Albart. This series will provide an opportunity to connect in a monthly roundtable to think critically about the role of the #2 in tackling the challenges the field is faces and how we support our staff and institution through the next year.

Finally, our board is thinking critically about the experience of graduate students and new professionals within our association and at our conference and how TACUSPA can better develop the tremendous talent that exists within our newest student affairs professionals.

So…be on the lookout for exciting new initiatives and great returning development opportunities but for now, mark your calendars with a Save the Date for the 2022 TACUSPA Annual Conference in Austin! We will gather October 23^rd-25^th at the AT&T Conference Center to Re-connect, Re-engage, Re-discover and Re-ignite our passion for Student Affairs!

Board of Directors - Updates

The TACUSPA Board of Directors is actively working to fulfill the mission and vision of the Association.

We encourage you to learn more about the work of the Board of Directors by reviewing the meeting minutes.

MEMBERSHIP

Professional Membership | $35 annually
Open to all higher education professionals, both staff and faculty.

Student Membership | $20 annually
Student Membership is open to all full-time undergraduate students (12 hours) or graduate students (9 hours). Student Membership is not available to those who are full-time employees of a college or university.

Emeritus Membership | $50 one-time dues
Emeritus membership is available for retired TACUPSA members. Emeritus members will receive all benefits of professional membership.

Institutional memberships offer a group discount and are available in groups of 3. The cost is $100 per 3 memberships, and there are 11 levels available. Please see the institutional memberships page for more information. In addition to the membership discount, institutional member campuses may also post jobs on our Career Opportunities website for free. Institutional member campuses with a Higher Education graduate program will also have their program featured on our website and social media periodically during the year.

TACUSPA Foundation

RESEARCH

Every year, the TACUSPA Foundation provides financial support to members in the form of conference scholarships for graduate students, the Thomas Moorman Fellowship Program, and research grants.

We encourage you to make a donation to the Foundation to continue offering support to our members. Suggested donation amounts are:

$19.25 in honor of TACUSPA’s founding year
A dollar amount equal to your number of years in the profession ($5 for 5 years, $10 for 10years, etc.).
